Binged season one in a single day! Just too sad to see how these women were treated, first by their partners, then by their community. The pace and production on these episodes are so constable and engaging.

I’m old enough to remember the “troubles” being in the news here in the US. This is the best reporting I’ve heard on the subject. Another reminder, as if we needed one these days, of peoples’ capability for inhumanity.

Highly recommend both seasons.

Season 1: I still can’t believe this could happen in the UK in my lifetime. The last episode does a fine job of bringing us up to the present, and showing how the tables have turned. Cara is a podcasting prodigy. I’m sure she had help from a good production team. This is one of the all-time best podcasts I’ve heard.

The stories in both seasons (1 and 2) were horrifying. It’s terrible what our fellow man will justify. Season 1 was a bit hard for me to follow at first because the podcast did jump around a bit. But the story was definitely worth listening to. Season 2 did jump around a bit as well but it was easier for me to follow. I had heard about the tainted blood but I always thought that it was a mistake and things were remedied after the information was discovered. I’m enraged to hear the real story and my heart goes out to everyone affected. I am hoping there will be a season 3 and…!

Season 1 is a good reminder that if your boyfriend f----s off with not a thought for you, do not spend one more minute on him. "The not knowing could take your sanity" isnt true; knowing the scale of his betrayal will be MUCH worse.

A “journalist” who laughs at her sources who don’t agree with her agenda is not worth listening to despite the possible truth behind the story. Also can’t help but stop listening as the plasma industry is soooo dramatized. I donated in college and the way it is described here, makes me laugh. It was clean and professional, it did not hurt 🤣 not that I’m endorsing what they are doing but this picture you are painting is ridiculous!

This story was WILD. I loved every second of it and I feel so much for those women affected by this great miscarriage of justice. I mean wow.

A compelling story, both season 1 and 2.

Thank you for informing people about the bizarre cases of undercover police who lead double lives. I originally heard about this issue from the British Scandals podcast, which directed me here wanting to learn more. The stories of the wives, the other women, and even the officers themselves are all tragic in their own way, and this Bed of Lies podcast does a great job of showing many different sides to this story. I hope Kara will continue to update this podcast as more information is revealed in the future.

Great deep dive into a fascinating story. I found this via the British Scandal podcast, which also covered this story wonderfully but in slightly less detail. It’s a testament to how engaging it is that I binged all of season 1 even though I had JUST heard the same story in another pod. Keep it up please!

I started Season 1 episode 1 and within minutes was hooked. The stories in both seasons absolutely needed to be told and widely shared. I’m in the US and it’s appalling what happened - but neither story should be surprising to anyone paying attention. These were clearly extensively researched, with much care taken for the victims. Well done!

These stories are both so beautifully and humanely researched. I so appreciate the way McGoogan starts with a human story and uses it to unravel a deeper systemic issue. Excellent and engaging.

This would be great lishentling if it wasn't so poorly organized--to the point where I just lost interest by episode 2. Really choppy. Why all the questions to the listener? And rhetorical questions. Seems like too much stalling, faux clisff hangers. ..Became boring. . .

Great second season and great host, highly recommend

I just finished binging season one of “Bed of Lies“ over a 24 hour period.Season one wasn’t that good. I loved hearing directly from the individuals involved in the UK undercover policing scandal. Especially since, as an American, I had never heard of what was (apparently) a well-known scandal in the UK. That’s a large part of the reason why hearing a southern accent in the trailer for season two was so disappointing. I do not want to hear any more American scandals. I do not want to hear how awful the southern United States is. I do not want to hear about how terrible United States policing and prisons can be. Our news, radio, and podcasts are already saturated with much of the same. As a frequent podcast listener, I was excited by the new stories The Telegraph network could offer. A big part of that draw is the access to stories and people from across the pond. That is the only driver behind my mid-range (3 star) rating. Back to the European/UK newness, please!

Very well researched, detailed and produced podcast. The dialogue and flow is thoughtful and heartbreaking yet respectful. Highly recommend this podcast.

Never would have thought to write a review til now. One of the most gripping and heart-breaking stories I’ve ever heard. The contrast of the strength of these women up against the callousness of the police force is wild. Couldn’t recommend enough.

Fascinating and very disturbing story of government overreach. Really well written and I very much enjoyed listening to the podcast host.

What an effed up situation. It’s really sick that these guys got away with that. The story is fairly well-told, but journalists need to stop with the simple-minded rhetorical questions. No, we weren’t thinking that—whatever the question was. Why would you, the writer, think we were? Don’t assume we’re all as simple-minded as you. It’s a cheap gimmick that writers should delete!

This will grab you and hold you for every pivoting episode... so we’ll done... entertaining and heartbreaking at the same time... WELL DONE!!

I listened to this whole podcast in just a few days. Such an interesting story, but also so scary to know this sort of thing has happened and is likely still happening. So grateful to these women sharing their stories, and so impressed by Cara’s thorough and sensitive reporting. I’ve recommended this podcast to everyone I know!

This podcast is a lesson in governance. When you realize how far the government will go to silence our voices.... How little regard the police have for “collateral damage”, you will fight harder to protect the unprotected.

Great work bringing together the story of these women and the deeply corrupt police organization that is still monitoring its citizens, everyone should take a listen.
