Fellow Arkansas
As a fellow Arkansan growing up in the Ozark mountains of North Central Arkansas, hunting all kinds of game and fishing were a hobby as well as a means to provide. My family has historically hunted and fished the same grounds and waters for generations. I relate so much to your podcast and have begun the process of listening to them in order from the beginning. I would love to be able to meet and talk to you sometime if you ever find yourself in North Central Arkansas around Mountain View!

Mississippi
If you like to listen to some good ole boys. Look no further than Clay, Brent, Lake Pickle, and Rinella!! I love that yall often discuss Mississippi. I hope one day I bump into clay or Brent Around my County !! Or hunting in our great state !!

Still number one!!
Clay, just letting you know I’m your biggest fan.(along with thousands of other biggest fans I’m sure)But Tyler reminded me that I found Bear Grease by searching podcast for squirrel dog content years ago. So just another blessing that squirrel dogs have brought to me personally.

Florida Bear Hunting?
Loving the Bear Grease Podcast series. I think an episode(s) on Florida’s past and present bear hunting would be a great topic, if not already in the works. A future bear hunt is eminent and the last hunt in 2015 only lasted two days to meet harvest

What happened to the wave?
Episode 340. BR what a great episode. You explained much of my childhood as well. I believe it was as good as we remember. I miss the people, the connections to a place and the small town wave. Even to people you didn’t like, I miss them too.

Hillbillies
Need to get this Podcast back to stories about hillbillies. Feels like it’s kinda lost its direction.

This country life
Episode 333, man what a story. Made pull over as I was driving and get myself together. Reminded me of a hunt me and my dad went on. He was in army and it was cold so he wore his camouflage jacket. We were squirrel hunting. A squirrel in the scramble mistook him for a bush and jumped on his chest. As he was yelling don’t shoot and the squirrel was swapping front to back all I could do was laugh

Father’s Day
Enjoyed this episode from This Country Life. Reminded me of my dad and days gone by. I’ll never forget my first squirrel hunt at 11 years old with him. He has been gone for 12 years this year

This is a fantastic hunting podcast
This is one of the ideal podcasts to listen to if or if not you are a hunter or just somebody wanting to listen to an education podcast. I love this country life but I think it should be a separate podcast because Brent totally deserves it. I also love learning more about their culture. I live in LA and hardly ever get to go hunting so this is nice as a refresher for when I can. I also have a fly fishing story for Brent if he wants one. Keep up the good work!

Best Podcast from the meateater universe
I love the show currently trying to catch up on episodes. In the early episodes I loved the fixation on OH since that’s where I’m from especially the Tecumseh episodes and the mention of the outdoor drama. A suggestion would be start a Bear Grease book club id love to read some content before the episodes.

I think I’m going to hit a black bear!
When your boy hit you up wit the latest hunt story from Brent and clay always gets you going on some interesting and sometimes controversial subjects that make you think about what’s important in life even when you gone!

Too many filler episodes
I love about every other one of the actual bear grease episodes, but I find the render, country life, and occasional main episodes to feel like boring filler. I would rather this podcast only release once or twice a month but have quality well researched interesting episodes instead of 3-4 a week with most being random people telling average at best hunting stories or just random small talk. I find myself starting to skip lots of episodes.

Awesome
Pablo episode was great. I personally know Tony Meyers and the other guys. I pastored in that community for 7 years. Tony is not just a good hunter and mentor but he’s a wonderful human being. He and Donna are loving, kind Christian folks. Many have set in his house and learned hunting but more than that life lessons. When I was struggling with Pastoral ministry he would listen and give me good life advice. He’s a wonderful mentor and can out hunt an outwork most men and he does it with one leg, yep lost his leg several years ago.

Bear. Grease. Podcast.
Love the heck outta this podcast. Does Clay always sound like he’s solving the puzzle on wheel of fortune? Same with Rinella. Guys, it doesn’t get better with 1.5x either. How do you enunciate so hard. 5 stars.

Testimony
Really appreciate Clay, Brent and the team for all the hard efforts to make such a great podcast. Love it even more that they use this platform to share the word of Jesus Christ. Never in your face, but in subtle ways that speak volumes as a Christian. Very encouraging my friends. The Lord has blessed you. Keep bringing us content from His great creation we call and love the outdoors. He is good. Thank you!

Bobwhite Brigade
I’m not sure if Clay or anyone in the Meateater sphere will read this, but if y’all do. Please check out the Rolling Plains Bobwhite Brigade Camp that is part of the Texas Brigades organization. Bobwhite brigade is a youth wildlife conservation, leadership camp where kids learn about quail and conservation while also learning leadership, public speaking skills, and critical thinking. It’s a great camp. It’s everything Meateater would be pumped to know about. Also, great podcast Clay. Keep it up.

These boys have it figured out!
All the episodes of Bear Grease, Render, and This Country Life are awesome! The cast is knowledgeable and in line with my morals and ethics. I love history involving the outdoors and Clay picks great topics. Brent is “Papaw for the People”- totally relatable to almost everyone. Great work Bear Grease crew!

Tell me a story
The Bear Grease crew know how to tell stories with both entertainment and educational value. I look forward to new episodes popping up on my feed.

Ready for the next one
My son told me about Bear Grease a few years ago and I’ve listened to every episode since. I really enjoy This Country Life & listening to Brent talk about southern Arkansas. I grew up in SW Arkansas around Millwood Lake & Little River. It brings back memories of the days spent with family & friends hunting & fishing my Pa’s farm in this area. Keep all the shows coming I can’t wait to hear what’s next!

Yup!
I’m a long time fan of the MeatEater. BUT, Bear Grease is hands down the best podcast out there! Now, I don’t care how anyone pronunces acorn, as long as we can all agree that those precious oak nuggets are what make late fall California Black Bears the best dam meat and grease on the planet 😘 love y’all

Great Podcast!
I just listened to the final episode of the Daniel Boone series. Being a 7th Great Grandson of his, I took this series to heart. Truly appreciate the work that went into it. Thank you!!

Thoroughly enjoy the storytelling capabilities of Brent Reeves and Clay Newcomb. If there’s anything that I would tweak, it would be keeping all stories confined to one podcast/episode length.

Bear Grease
Love his different series. Great manly podcast with a lot of historical input on key characters. The only qualm I have is the assumptions made on evolution and items in that line.

Stopped listening because of ads
Used to really love this podcast. The content is great, and Clay’s story telling ability is top notch. Really interesting subject matter and obscure stories lost to history brought back and told in a very thoughtful and respectful way. That being said, MeatEater has gotten out of hand with the ads. I don’t much care for any of MeatEaters other media. Not their other podcasts, or the show, just this one. Sorry Clay.

Love the podcast
This is my favorite podcast to listen to each week. Brent Reeves and Clay Newcomb are excellent storytellers, and I have yet to find an episode that I didn’t enjoy listening to. If you enjoy hunting and the outdoors, our country’s complicated history, or just people telling a great story, I’d highly recommend this podcast every week.

Must Listen Podcast
I’ve been entrenched in this podcast lately. Clay is so well spoken and his points well thought out. What a guy to have elaborated deeply on so many fascinating stories surrounding the outdoors and its history.

Best Podcast Out There
I ran across this podcast searching for Theodore Roosevelt a few years ago, listened to the whole series and was hooked. I have since listened to every episode. Episode 286: The Night Rider Tobacco Wars of Kentucky & Tennessee got me to finally leave a review. Clay and the Crew never disappoint. Keep up the good work.

Can’t brag on this show enough
My wife and family are probably sick and tired of me talking about this show every week. Back when Clay started appearing on meateater and their podcast I would just want the whole show to be Clay talking. Well ask and you shall receive and now since episode one this has been my favorite podcast. And now with ole Brent Reaves it only gets better. I don’t miss a single episode of TCL or the Bear Grease

So rich and engrossing
I am a woman in her 40s. I’m not originally from the south or the country. In many ways I can’t really relate to the background or lifestyle of the creators of this podcast. And yet I can’t stop listening. I can completely relate to the complexity of the human experience which is at the heart of every episode. I am learning so much about history, culture, and how closely connected we are even if it doesn’t feel that way. I appreciate that the subject matter is fascinating and well researched, the language is appropriate even for kids, and the people involved are genuine. I laugh and tear up and sit in my car in my driveway until the episode is over. In learning about other people I am learning a lot about myself. I am grateful you have produced such a good podcast. I could listen through them all and then do it again just like a good book.

Never thought I could be such a fan of history. But the way it is told here and the topics covered are more often than not enough to get anyone into American history. Though he may not yet know it Clay has firmly established himself a class A American historian.

Enjoyed the Tecumseh and Osceola series, how about doing one on Geronimo? I’ll be waiting for it next year😄 whatever happened with old what’s his name the flashy mule?

Well said.
The depth of emotion and incredibly interesting people and events that Clay Newcomb hosts, interviews and relates is extraordinary. I feel richer having listened, and at times my capacity for understanding my country and it’s history and all it has to offer is overwhelming…in a very good way.

Love it
My buddy got me listening to Bear Grease. He said I should check it out. Well I do not regret it. Being from TN, it’s great to hear stories and old tales. Even learned a few things. Got more into Bear Grease after I met Clay at the tailgate they had at the TN vs. Al game. Been listening none stop.
