Easily one of my top 5 podcasts 💗 They have the perfect balance of random nonsense mixed with intentional book, book industry and literary content in each episode. I’d love more episodes throughout the month, but it’s probably the right amount to keep me wanting more without feeling like I’m getting behind. If I’m behind on an episode, it’s only because I want to read the book first so I’m thankful they’re not all book club episodes. I also recommend each of Becca’s and Olivia’s substacks!

I’m not even a big reader and this is one of my fave podcasts. I can’t explain it but it just makes me so happy. Love it!

I have listened to this podcast from when it first started. Becca & Grace, and now with Becca & Olivia, it is still my favorite podcast. I love all three of those girls! They do an excellent job. I am all the time going back and listening to different episodes over and over again. Listening to this podcast is like having a friend date with your best gal pals. I’ve been listening to Bad on Paper for a few years now, and it’s hands down my absolute favorite podcast. It’s the perfect mix of book talk, lifestyle content, and pop culture. I always look forward to the new episodes every Wednesday. I especially love listening while I’m cooking — it’s engaging without being too intense, and calming without ever feeling boring. Huge thanks to Olivia and Becca for all the hard work, thoughtfulness, and consistency you bring to the show!

This is one of my absolute favorite podcasts. It’s such a bright spot in my week. I read most of the book club books and have learned so much about books and the general landscape of contemporary literature. I truly feel like I am listening to friends every week and look forward to opening my podcast app on Wednesday mornings. I don’t always agree with the hosts politically as I am a Christian, and a mother, but I believe that trying to understand people’s fears and intentions around politics only brings people closer together rather than deepening the divide. This podcast provides both deep, meaningful conversations and lighthearted fodder. 100% worth the listen!

This is one of my all-time favorite podcasts and I’m always happy to see a new episode has dropped! It truly feels like chatting with friends and I love all of the behind-the-scenes book/publishing info!! The interviews with authors and book club episodes are also super well done!

This is one of the few podcasts I keep coming back to—it feels comforting, like sitting down for tea with two close friends. I’ve seen reviews about the hosts’ attitudes, and while I understand where those impressions might come from, I honestly believe they say more about the listener than the hosts. These kinds of judgments are exactly why people feel hesitant to speak freely or be themselves. What makes this podcast special is its authenticity and the genuine connection between the hosts - that’s exactly what many listeners love about it. If it’s not for you, that’s totally fine, don’t listen. Just don’t let your personal projections diminish what others appreciate.

It’s not funny? It’s puerile and prurient and just a total waste of time. And the anti-intellectualism has gotten out of hand.

I used to really enjoy listening to this uplifting and bookish podcast, but it has recently become quite problematic and unsettling for me to listen to. Becca’s condescending and unkind attitude towards Olivia is really off-putting and Olivia’s undertones of hatefulness and resentment towards Christians and those of different political leanings than her own is so saddening and confusing considering her apparent value on tolerance. This podcast just feels like cringe after cringe. I want the old BOP back!

I used to love this podcast, and I still love Olivia. But between Becca constantly taking over her, her recent argument that maybe we don’t need to teach English class in the same way anymore, and the interview with Chelsea Handler, I’m out.

Five stars because I really do look forward to this podcast. But Becca’s attitude towards Olivia is getting worse and worse. She is very condescending to her and barely listens to her opinions. I don’t know if there is some lingering resentment or what, but Becca, please check your attitude!

I listen to a lot of podcasts and this one is in my top 3. I look so forward to the hosts banter each week because it comes off so genuine. They sort of seem like opposites - Olivia is super laid back and easy going whereas Becca seems like more the extroverted of the two, with less of a filter. There is literally not ever an episode where they don't make me laugh. They really seem to like each and respect one another and each gets equal airtime that seems to just come naturally, like two friends shooting the breeze. The combination is just perfection. Both are probably young enough to be my daughters (or me their very fun older aunt!) but I think their appeal goes out to women of all ages. They are just enough quirky to feel fresh and something different without being over the top or weird. Long live Bad on Paper.

The obscure erotica episode with the gnomes and the egg was absolutely hilarious and ridiculous in the best way hahaha

I want to second Olivia’s “Jesus Christ “ comment, this had me rolling and dying of laughter. On a day where I definitely needed something to lighten my mood this was 100% the thing to do it. This was absolutely hilarious. Absolutely love you two! Edited: love the the new duo! Grace will be missed but she isn’t far from our hearts or content ❤️ Missed my friends while you were taking a break. So glad to be able to listen to you banter back and forth over the serious and silly. Sometimes we just need a little bit of familiarity during these crazy COVID times, you bring the laughs and a bit of reprieve from it all. Thank you ❤️

I’ve listened to BOP for 5+ years now and I truly love the recs, three things and general banter. WITH THAT BEING SAID. The most recent obscure erotica was just too much. No more erotica / eggs from Becca plz.

I absolutely adore this podcast. I feel like Olivia and Becca are friends. They’re so fun and relatable and every single episode is so enjoyable. I have the same taste in books as Olivia. I look forward to this podcast every week!

Olivia and Becca are so funny, and their conversations are like hanging out with two of your best friends. Also really appreciate having something to listen to as a pick-me-up amidst the heavy political transition. They’re the levity I need in my days!

I typically love the banter between Olivia and Becca, but Becca’s constant interrupting is straight up rude. She asks Olivia questions only to interject while Olivia is mid-response. It’s rude, not to mention cringey and it’s getting more and more difficult to listen to.

but the virtue signaling about politics is rly out of control. Also rly appreciate that they don’t talk any dating

Hearing the intro music pop on makes me happy because I know I’m always in for a fun convo. Keep up the great work, gals!

The consistent degradation of literature on this show by Becca is bizarre and disappointing- do we need more anti-intellectualism in this cultural moment? Dostoyevsky can be read on a beach, everyone should read Shakespeare for many, many reasons, not least because he provides an unbelievable portal into what it means to be human, and there is more value to a college class than navigating polite society. Olivia brought up Demon Copperhead, which Kingsolver based on Dickens— do we know this? I’ve never been so turned off by an episode.

Becca steamrolls whatever Olivia says to either condescending ridicule or interrupts to get her point across which (of course) is contrary to Olivia’s. Would love for the partnership to feel equal and have Olivia’s confidence and opinions take the stage for once. If Becca would let her.

This isn’t a political podcast so it’s odd that you comment on politics how often you do- but statements like this? What? How does this even relate to books and reality?

To not fault of Olivia’s, the dynamic between her and Becca is off. Becca treats Olivia like she’s a child and is frequently VERY condescending. You can feel the awkwardness in their exchanges, like Olivia doesn’t know what to say in response. Becca is older but past 30, I don’t think it really matters. She can be very arrogant and superior and it’s honestly hard to listen to at times.

I’ve been a listener for two years and I listen to this podcast when i’m driving! I drive 2h almost everyday and this podcast is my best friend. Thank you Becca & Olivia for entertaining me! Love the pod :)

Have been a long-time devoted listener since pre-pandemic with Grace. Love the pod just as much with Olivia as co-host, but unfortunately in recent months has evolved into a show on the book-writing process, reviewing drafts, rounds of editing, etc. Etc. I get that this is a natural progression with Becca and Olivia's evolving careers, but it's becoming quite repetitive. Maybe there could be fewer, but more dedicated episodes on this topic and bring more overall variety to the pod.

i just wanted to say i was so encouraged by olivia and becca touching on the political state and their personal feelings about the upcoming election. as a very political person who is terrified of another trump term, i am really looking to people with a platform to use it for the good of our democracy. love all your episodes but just wanted to say thanks for the bravery involved in discussing politics on a non-political podcast.

BOP is the first podcast I listen to in my Wednesday lineup. I could listen to a 3 things episode weekly if Becca & Olivia ever wanted to up the episode count to 2 per week 🤞.

I was an early listener because I loved Grace’s blog (which I still enjoy) but I stopped listening in the middle because I was bored by the interviews and Grace’s anecdotes just didn’t resonate with me. THEN Olivia joined and I’m obsessed again. So fun! Keep up all the bookish and routine and writing content please!

I really enjoyed the three things episode with Kate Kennedy and would enjoy this format with other guests. The Four Thousand Weeks episode was also really well done and I didn’t even read the book. Would love if Becca and Olivia started a series where they read non-fiction books and had thoughtful discussions on the topics.

I really enjoy this podcast, both as a huge reader and as a pop culture/beauty/random life organization and hacks content person. They nail the topics, I love the book reviews, and enjoy when they have thoughtfully-picked guests on certain eps. I’ve been a listener since the first episode (I follow Grace Atwood/The Stripe) and though I liked Grace’s cohosting, I think Olivia is a fantastic replacement and is such a delight - love following her on socials now, too. However, I’ve had to stop listening to recent eps halfway through because I cannot keep digesting Becca’s interruptions (both to Olivia and to guests) with HER thoughts on any given subject, which are usually to make a contrarian point and/or undermine someone else’s take or opinion. We get it, you’re an only child and think your comments are very unique and superior. It’s getting old. To be clear, I like Becca’s contributions to the pod, it’s just hard to hear her hijack every half-sentence Olivia manages to emit with her own opposing viewpoint, followed with snarky laughter. I truly mean this in a constructive way, as I’d like to get back to being able to listen to the eps without feeling frustrated with the constant interruptions and snarky asides in the flow of conversation.

I love your podcast, I’m trying to improve your numbers so you bump up your eps/week. I love the positivity and coziness you bring to the pod atmosphere.

The audio quality on the listener voicemail episodes makes them really difficult to get through.

Love their book recommendations, always a nice mix with a lean towards romance, women’s fiction, a little murder-suspense, and sometimes YA. Beyond books, I love their conversations about pop culture, lifestyle, and friendships. They have very different lives than me but they are still very relatable and fun. It’s the one podcast I listen to faithfully as soon a it comes out.
