Updating my review - Monica is ruining it for me
As a fan from day one, I've loved Armchair. The fact check, aka Monica’s latest purchase or procedure is just annoying and pointless. I removed from my feed months ago and listen to maybe 1 episode a month now.

Literally LOLing on the way to work. This is my new favorite podcast. I love how real Dax is, and the first few guests have been amazing!

Mom’s Car
Moms car is so funny. Dax said don’t leave a tip! My wife is very wealthy 🤣
I love the show. I just skip around and listen to people that seem interesting to me.

Great interviews, great interviewers, lay off Monica
I don’t know why the worst reviews are shown first, but Dax is a great interviewer. I enjoy his questions, I enjoy the guests- you can tell his is very engaged in people and their stories or opinions. Monica is a good moderator for Dax- pulls him back a little and challenges his opinions and he does the same for her- I understand her place in this show. Not sure why these reviewers are all over her. I appreciate the honesty of character from both of them even if not always relatable.

Why have Jason Aldean
Really? Jason Aldean MAGA supporter? Also, the two of you have a laugh that’s obnoxious

Monica is the worst
Monica has made me have to skip this pod. Question Dax's judgement thinking she's smart. Only thing she adds are in Selena's comments or interrupts Dax having a great conversation flow with the guest. Not to mention Monica can't handle anyone who disagrees with her or sees the world differently.

It's the only podcast I can turn to; it has been a constant for many years. I can't express how much I enjoy listening each week.

Love it but..
Love the podcast but I don’t understand why the editing is so poor. The conversations are choppy and it really disrupts the flow of conversation. It’s distracting and pretty disappointing for a Wondery podcast.
LOVED the Luke Combs interview. It was a great listen, even if you don’t enjoy his music.

Not now, but right now II
Just tried to listen to the Back to School episode because I thought it would be fun, but couldn’t handle the weird, middle school style chortling Monica vocal interjections (Ewwwwwaaa!). Dax, you are clearly not going to respond to the hoards of people asking for her to go. Respond! Have a discussion about it! Do an episode about this. Are you so worried about preserving the feelings of someone so selfish and judgmental? Why? Also, I got really excited about the Brad Pitt episode. But the entire thing was you fawning over him. What a great opportunity it was to discuss domestic violence… that he has clearly been involved with….the alcoholism topic was skirted and caught up in bromance rose colored glasses. Two very teachable moments that would have been of service to others, blown. Instead, we have Monica talking about clothes. Why was she there at all? An opportunity missed is an opportunity lost. If he ever comes back, all we will hear is how great he is and how great you are for not talking about how great he is. Raise the bar, man! Your listeners are smarter than this….

Crossed a Line
I’ve been a loyal listener of Armchair Expert for a couple of years. My wife and I listened all through her pregnancy and on all of our roadtrips. We really enjoyed the mix of thoughtful conversations and humor. I’ve always respected that Dax and Monica are open about not being believers, and that’s never been an issue for me as a Christian. In fact, I’ve appreciated hearing perspectives different from my own.
But in one of the latest episodes, Monica essentially implied that Christians are uneducated when contrasting Christian culture in the South versus LA. That crossed a line for me and my family. I have no issue with anyone holding a different worldview. What I do have an issue with is being dismissed or judged simply for what I believe. My expectation has always been that we can disagree respectfully without belittling each other.
For context, both my wife and I are college-educated. I’ve built a career in marketing at a Smithsonian-affiliated museum, and she is an attorney. To have us, and millions of other believers, lumped in as “uneducated” is not only unfair, it’s insulting.
Because of this, I’ll be unsubscribing. I hope the show remembers that true openness means making space for differing beliefs without resorting to stereotypes.

Same caller
I know on Armchair Anonymous that it’s always going to be the same type of caller- a basic, boring white American woman aged 25 to 35 talking about some “hilarious” story about getting drunk at a sorority party. Mix it up with more men, different ethnicities, different types of stories, etc! Also Dax really puts down and degrades men in general and I’ve noticed casual racism from Dax too against Asians

Mostly like the show, I usually skip most of the fact check
I like their interviews and their sweet friends. I think they talk out of pocket about a good amount of topics which is sometimes a bit annoying. But overall love the guests. The fact check has become a bit meandering for me but I like the interviews.
Fab-u-Roach
soulmates no more
Really miss the days when Monica and Dax liked each other. When Dax called Moni his soulmate, and Monica appreciated Dax for who he is instead of resenting him and taking petty digs at him. She’s gone from checking facts to checking Dax and it’s such a bummer.

Good interviews, Don’t bother with the rest
I really enjoy the interview aspect of the podcast. They get interesting tidbits out of people that I don’t feel I get in other interviews. For me, the chitchat after is unbearable. Also, someone needs to fact check the fact check.

Getting messy :(
I have listened since day one and have loved every episode. I love how raw and funny it was. In the last few months it feels different. Is Monica upset? Why is she treating Dax like a child? And when did fact checks turn into a larger portion of the show than the interview and it includes 0 facts but i definitely know what Monica wore to a dinner at a fancy restaurant where she was upset by a friend that was just being themselves? Idk…

Editing is choppy (unnatural)
The podcast is edited choppy, no natural pauses and doesn’t feel like I’m listening to a normal conversation. Sometimes a pause is powerful. If this was fixed, I’d start listening again.

Didn’t know they were back - so glad!
I listened to this podcast for years and was so disappointed when they moved to only being available on Spotify - and I stopped listening when they moved. When I heard their ad on We’re Here to Help that noted they were once again available on all platforms, I was so happy — and now I have years of back catalogue to catch up on! lol. I’m training for my first marathon and the long episodes are great for that! It feels like coming home to friends I haven’t seen in a while.

Love the show! I feel like Dax would’ve had more excitement if you had said that another Edwards played Goose in TopGun.

Used to LOVE… but
I have been an armcherry since the beginning. Monica and Dax have been in my ears every week (multiple times a week) for so long and I’ve grown a lot bc of the show and conversations/topics covered. I’m sad to say lately it’s been going downhill. I almost gave up after the JVN episode, but I’m so embedded into the show I kept going. However now Dax is just turning into a different person it seems. Caring about men’s views and how men are treated more than anything else. Sad to say I no longer can listen without getting upset. Here’s my old review from years ago that I wish was still the truth (but precious years episodes would still do ppl good to listen)…… Dax’s podcast is everything! If I could be as good at conversations as Dax, I would be thrilled. The way he runs the show, flows the conversation, and makes you think as a listener is inspirational. I always feel smarter, entertained, and happy after listening to AE. I also truly appreciate his and Monica’s honesty and straight forward-ness. Thank you, Dax!!

Dax on Fatherhood
Love listening to the fact checks just to hear more stories on Dax’s fatherhood adventures. Even the simplest things are so fun to listen to and honestly I aspire as a father of 4 young boys to shape our lives similar to what you create in your home Dax. I know it’s not perfect (nor should it be) but I love how you guys just live life and it really does inspire me to do the same with my family. Thanks for sharing, I know there’s likely a price you pay with sharing that information.

Imagine reading all of this on multiple platforms while being so exhausted by your cohost that you have to build an entire new house/life on the other side of the country to (hopefully) get away from her. Good job, Dax.

More guest talk, less Monica
I enjoy the show very much and like hearing from the guests more than banter with aloof, monotone Monica. The edits are messy and it makes me wonder what was cut. Especially in episodes with so much information from amazing people. It makes my brain sad, as do Monica’s limited contributions. I’m embarrassed for her when she speaks, and she is incredibly out of touch. I end up cutting off the second half of the podcast because I want the interview but not chit chat. I do like casual conversation with Dax but perhaps he should engage with a different producer.

Crawling back, hmm?
I used to listen to this podcast all the time. And then out of nowhere they went exclusive with Spotify, and I couldn’t listen anymore because I don’t support Spotify. Now they’re back to making money with this wondery scheme and it’s all very transparent. I listened to a recent episode and honestly I’m glad for the break because it made me realize I’ve outgrown the schtick of “man who thinks he knows so much talking endlessly about his own trauma”. Two stars because they ask good questions occasionally and it’s not just celebrities interviewing each other.

Fave podcast
This is for sure my favorite podcast. I love Dax and his knowledge and information. Monica adds to it however I don’t love that her politics comes up and she approaches it very closed minded. Dax approaches politics from an open mind even if people don’t align with his opinion, he is curious and not condescending and I think we need more conversations like what he provides. I do like Monica and the banter and conversations they have for the most part.

Ya’ll are the cutest
Day 1 Armcherry, here. 🍒Currently listening to the fact check of Ramy Youssef’s Return ep on Wondery, and “we must, we must, we must increase our bust,” is from Are You There, God, It’s Me, Margaret,” not Grease, though it’s no insult to either to conflate such fabulous teen fodder. ❤️Thanks for all the delicious Armchair umbrella content: you make our days better!

So Grateful for Monica’s Presence
When I hear Monica’s voice on Armchair Expert, I feel something simple and rare: comfort. It’s the feeling of a familiar friend who’s warm, intelligent, and unafraid to be real. Dax, in all his gloriously robust, intuitively sharp interviewing style, brings such dynamic energy—and Monica doesn’t just sit beside him passively. She grounds the conversation. She holds space with presence, curiosity, and playfulness. She brings her whole self, and it matters.
I especially loved the episode with the author of Addicted to Revenge (Dr. Jack Kornfield). Both Monica and Dax were so open to seeing things differently—to questioning reactive, victim-centered thinking, and gently exploring the roots of violence. Monica gave that conversation time to breathe. Her steady presence wasn’t a counterweight to Dax’s brilliance—it was a beautiful complement to it. We need both.
I love how Monica shares her own process with honesty and humor. I’ve noticed her evolution over the years, especially with her new Buddhist interest and practice, and it’s deeply inspiring. The age difference between her and Dax also offers something I hadn’t expected: a glimpse into different stages of growth—both inner and outer—and how wisdom unfolds over time.
Most days, my kitchen is full of the usual good things—pots simmering, the rhythm of chopping, a breeze coming through the window, and sometimes, Armchair Expert playing in the background. Dax and Monica feel like part of the room—not in a starstruck way, just in the easy way certain voices become familiar over time. They talk while I stir, they laugh while I set the table, and by the time dinner is ready and family and friends fill the space, I often think to myself, I really enjoyed their company today.
Monica, what I want to say is this: I’m so glad you’ve let us walk beside you as you grow and reflect. You bring something thoughtful and honest to the show that’s quietly powerful. Thank you for letting us know you—not as a persona, but as a real person.

Love Dax, can't take Monica!
Dax is interesting and smart. However, I find myself only listening if I really like the guest because I can't take Monica's voice, laugh or senseless comments. She truly dumbs down the conversation. Maybe the producers want that in order to connect with a broader audience? If that's the case, they don't have me as a loyal listener for one reason only. I fell asleep during the end of the Alexander show and I dreamed I was in the same room as Dax and Monica. I was trying to speak, but was rendered voiceless by Monica's incessant, mindless chatter. I was embarrassed for her during the Brad Pitt interview as she insulated him to his face.
Maybe she has something on Dax? I dunno. If that's the case, just give her her own podcast and let Dax do his thing without her. This would elevate the show and satisfy most listeners.

Monica is a hard NO!
1 more “yeaa” from Monica or an unwarranted “fake laugh”and I’m OUT. SHE IS THE WORST EVER. It never fails.. I get so excited for a guest (Olivia Munn, Brad Pitt) and without fail, Monica ruins it for me. Monica is awful at this job , yet Dax and Wondery just keep her in that chair, where she’s comfortably perched, w her entitlement, ego and uninformed, useless interjections, serve to continuously disrupt and ruin this entire podcast. What a shame because, Dax is So good. He effortlessly connects w every guest (varying degrees of course) but a connection is made w everyone, nontheless. Dax is so likable and organically moves throughout the episodes and nothing is forced or fake. Ironically, Monica is the antithesis of Dax. Her take is never authentic & She possesses zero traits that make a interviewer (or just a person) appealing. Despite Dax’s star quality, Monica has managed to “dumb down“ what’s otherwise a fantastic show. I’m at the point that I can’t take her anymore. My brain recoils when she disrupts the flow w her mindless nonsense and fake laugh simply to remind us that she’s in the room. She contributes nothing to the show. Throughout the entire Brad Pitt episode, playing on repeat in my head was … “I WISH MONICA WASN’T THERE” She legit ruined this for me. During the fact check she made it clear that she was determined to force her way into the conversation. And that she did- hence ruining this for me. Her interjections in no way benefit or propel the conversation forward, whatsoever. In fact when she wasn’t disrupting the flow (per usual) w her endless “Yea, wow, yes, uh huh & fake laugh” she managed to insult Brad multiple times- 1st she essentially called him an egomaniac. Next she used the word “Stupid” in response to him admitting he was vulnerable & trusting in AA. He corrected her by saying “it’s desperation”. Finally, As a professional actor BP embodied the role of a F1 driver & immersed himself in the culture, hence his enthusiasm for it!! MONICA’S “genius” take, suggested he’s just a shallow “bro” who “unlike most actors, isn’t artsy, and does he feel like an outsider as a result” WHAT!?! 🤯😳🤫She’s legit so unqualified for this gig. Dax must be back on the “sauce”(or just drinking the Monica kool aid) because he complimented Monica on her interviewing skills!!! I don’t get it. 🤦🏻♀️ Monica, do us all a favor and Just sit quietly when the grown ups are talking 🤐Also hire a real editor… You’re awful at it. Please post if you agree.

Alienating
The interviews are not terrible. Some of them are actually good. It is like reading people magazine but with a tiny more substance. But beyond the interview it is just boring. The two stars are for the complete alienation beyond the confines of Hollywood gossipy. Not one word on things that actually affect people - unless they are celebrities - or about the awful events happening in the world. Maybe fear of the industry retaliation but it shows cowardice and lack of empathy

I like the idea of being honest and upfront about your opinions. But between worshiping Brad Pitt and refusing to admit that Taylor Swift was mistreated in the dealings with her music…I’m done. Y’all, it’s not that deep. It’s a podcast. Don’t listen if you don’t like it? For everyone leaving hateful or unnecessarily critical reviews, please get a life or therapy. Or both.
For Dax & Monnie (& Wobby Wob), you’re doing great. Thanks for continuing to put out content that’s enjoyable, vulnerable, funny, controversial, helpful and distracts us from all the madness happening around us. 🍒

Megalomaniac
I listened to an old podcast where Dax was being interviewed. He called himself a Megalomaniac and he could not be more right. His behavior makes sense now. Also he is addicted to Instagram and the butt kissing comments. Please everyone stop commenting on his Instagram to feed his ego and narcissism.

Why Monica….
Her weird side comments are so cringe and distracting. She’s not particularly witty or intelligent so im not sure why we’re being forced to listen to her speak. And her voice is literally nails on a chalkboard, and this is mainly an audio program, but i just can’t elect to have that in my headphones.
And im a girl so this isn’t miSOgYny. Get a cohost w actual charm, charisma and intellect and leave Monica on off mic duty.

Monica👎
I just stopped by to remind everyone that I still love Dax and despise Monica! And also I still don’t listen, because I know she’s there 🥴
I stopped listening years ago, but every once in a while I would pop in to check if just by any chance that excruciatingly annoying creature (we all know who) got the boot. Unfortunately, the many negative reviews lead me to believe she’s still there. How your sponsors are not dropping you is mind boggling to me.
Anyway, I genuinely enjoy Dax, and did find a lot of the guests/topics interesting, but my sense of self preservation was stronger, so I couldn’t listen anymore.

Monica is awful
I listen to the show from the very beginning and listened to every show. When they started allowing Monica to speak and say ridiculous nonsense, I had to quit listening several years ago. I saw Brad Pitt was on so I wanted to listen to it. And I am reminded that I will not be back because Monica is so annoying. Too bad.
