Overall I love the pod but I wish you guys would revisit “the dangers in my heart” because you only watched the first 3 episodes which are the worst ones in the series. The rest of them are genuinely peak. Please just watch them.

I’ll keep it simple, it is the only podcast I listen to and the only one I want to listen to. Keep up the great work.

If you’re listening to this podcast in search of validation or consensus regarding your opinions on anime, you’ve most definitely come to the wrong place. Longtime otaku Shaun introduces his friend and anime newbie Remington to the overwhelmingly vast world of anime with a new show or movie every episode. After watching off-pod, they return to the mic to discuss their uncensored impressions, and verbal carnage ensues. Remington never holds back with his nitpicking, griping, and pessimism in his attempts to find something dissatisfactory, whether it be a tried-and-true classic beloved by most or something widely accepted as mediocre. They even cover some of the more unpopular anime for the cringe factor and so Shaun can delight in Remington’s reactions. While I sometimes agree with Remington’s more cynical takes, his often contrarian views seem more than likely to be just that—an attempt to play the role of the otaku antithesis, opposite his cohost Shaun, who is often doing his best to highlight the positive aspects and appreciate the anime he shares on the pod. While they claim not to be experts at critiquing and reviewing, Remington’s exacting criticism and Shaun’s upbeat attitude make this podcast an entertaining and informative listen for the anime community. If you want to know every single thing wrong with that anime you grew up loving, then press play, then quickly duck and cover!

My favorite podcast by far. It’s positively hilarious and has good criticisms. Not always ones I completely agree with, but that just adds to the fun. I also love the awareness of women and LGBTQ issues present in the show and the willingness to call anime out when they handle these horribly. It’s such a breath of fresh air given how terrible many anime (and a lot of the anime community) are with these issues and helps make me feel seen :)

This podcast is so funny as long as you can take criticism

While i do disagree with some of Remington’s opinions (specifically his opinion on Bungo stray dogs) its still an amazing podcast and it’s great to hear other people’s opinions 🙂

This is a great podcast, also I think Remington should play the other Danganronpa games cause it’d be funny, also I’d want to see his opinions on them, especially with how V3 ends

The two hosts have such great chemistry!! The podcast is great, and hilarious, not to mention extremely helpful in deciding anime! Sure they can be a bit harsh but that’s to be expected. Honestly I think I’d rather someone a bit pessimistic and honest than someone who says they love everything because they’re scared of hate. Love both of them and stop the yaoi baiting!

Sometimes I feel they prioritize their patrons, and they refer to their prebanters so much in the main episode it made me, as a listener feel almost left out of the conversation even after listening to every episode multiple times. They seem to put most of their effort and energy into the prebanters and they disregard the majority of people that listen to them that might be too broke to join the pateon. Not to mention that they seem to be losing a lot of the things that made it interesting and picking boring and basic shows. I used to love them before they were shilling 24\7 and picking very safe shows that nobody cares about. Still, people reading this may be like “Why still give it a high rating” this is because I love them at their peak. When they banter and you can see their personality shine through, or they make fun of things and make controversial statements. They’ve made me laugh so much, but I just wish I could have the podcast before they wanted to get Rem health insurance back lol Not to say I don’t still love them, and occasionally the newer episodes can be interesting I just wish they were as consistent with goofs and comedy as before. Also I’ve been dying to know what Shaun thinks of Alien stage. If you’re reading this, PLEASE MENTION IT SOMETIME, MAKE AN OFFHAND COMMENT OR SOMETHING 😭 Have a nice day PS: so many comments are complaining about negative opinions, but I think it’s amazing how honest they are. Just because you like a show, doesn’t mean you should be so closed minded as to ignore other people’s viewpoints. For instance, I loved Assassination Classroom, but their points on it make sense and while I still really enjoy it it makes me see things in a different light. Just because you disagree with his opinions doesn’t mean that you can’t still enjoy the podcast and their honesty. Ah, also some of their advice on romance and personality has changed my life. I used to be very shy and self conscious but after hearing his advice on getting out there, and even if you get rejected it’s just that they weren’t feeling it, and it doesn’t mean anything about you, as well as the self betterment stuff has increased my ability to get along with people and have healthier relationships, so I owe them a lot, despite how negative my review started at the beginning. Good job you stupid horny children

Although they are a comedy podcast, these guys do great work in summarizing and reviewing anime series for people like me who aren’t as immersed in the culture. I tend to agree with most of Rem’s opinions and dislike many anime tropes (especially the bizarre siscon stuff and pervasiveness of bland “self-insert” protagonists), but I use this podcast to help identify anime I’m likely to enjoy. Rem can be a bit oversensitive with his distaste for what he perceives as female objectification or fan service (others may call him a prude), so a ton of anime are a non-starter, but he has excellent taste in general and when he likes a series like “Oddtaxi” or “A Place Further Than the Universe,” it has served as a recommendation for anime that have become among my absolute favorites as well. Shawn serves as a great straight man and the chemistry between the hosts is effortless. Highly recommended pod for people looking for entertaining anime reviews.

I have been listening to this podcast for the entirety of my high-school career and now I have graduated and will be entering university this fall. They got me through the boring parts of high-school, hoping for the same when I go to university. All three of these guys have made me feel all of the emotions ( Sadness, anger, happy, laughter, etc). Listening to them has made me feel like I was having a conversation with them about topics I enjoy, even if Remington has some opinions I disagree with. I hope this podcast lasts a little longer, but who knows how much Remington has left in the tank.

Love to stumble across the rare anime podcast that has a fresh set of eyes that isn’t afraid to be critical of any and every show. Hearing the highs and lows and other ends about shows from the eyes of a non-fan is sooo refreshing. Highly recommend. Also can’t wait for them to review Sorcerer Hunters or Those Who Hunt Elves. Given one cast member’s affection for elves.

This podcast reminds me of the conversations I had with my friends when I introduced them to anime. It’s nice to listen to since now all my friends are either bigger weebs than me or flee the room if I so much as mention anime it's a nice blast from the past with new anime

The new episode with Luke is probably their best work. It’s balanced with Luke providing the best thought out discussion responses to REM’s points I’ve ever heard. Really great discussion and honestly I hope they have Luke on again soon. He was a great collab!

First of all, love your show. I listen to your show every week (or at least the beginning if I haven’t seen the anime you talk about) and hearing Rem and Shaun talk dirty and threaten each other remind me of my friends. I would like to recommend 3 different anime that I love, but I doubt Rem will like. 1) Record of Ragnarok 2) Bakuman 3) Fire Force Keep up the good work guys! -Wallace

Rem is hilarious and brutally honest in his surprisingly in-depth reviews. Shaun has to put up with both Rem and the listeners as he does his best to either defend an anime or to get the listeners to understand the valid criticisms Rem brings up Dylan’s editing skills are amazing and his voice is iconic. My only complaint is that another February has passed without a Boondocks Review, cowards 🤣

Consider this my unmalicious compliance, as the podcast reaches its 300th episode I would like to give my 100% genuine thoughts on the podcast. It is very clear that Dylan, Remington, and even Shaun have put a ridiculous amount of effort in to create high quality content every week for 6 years, each of them adding something important to the recipe. Dylan is excellent at erasing dead air from the podcast and improving the comedic timing of the back and forth between Remington and Shaun. Remington is ultimately the star of the show, he formulates well thought out opinions and nitpicks for each show even when the show is so trashy that most people would have nothing to say other than “the show is trash”, and he manages to still insert his signature goofs into the genuine review. Finally that Shaun guy I was talking about earlier, the curator behind every episodes subject matter. Shaun’s deep knowledge of both the culture around anime and of the selection of seasonal anime presented to the masses four times a year allows him to sift through the low hanging fruit and give us gems of episodes like Forest Fairy Five. Shaun ruined my happy sugar life when he made my favorite podcast, and I thank him for it.

Spoon man. Just listen to the pod and you'll find out who that is :3 I've listened to every episode at least 3 times, definitely worth it for the comedy. The reviews? Pretty solid as well, it's exactly what it says on the tin. Keep up the good work boys!

I just want to say that whether Shaun is pampering or punishing Remington, this podcast is an absolute delight to listen to. I haven’t exactly been listening to the episodes in order, but that’s okay! I have been skipping around from anime that I’ve been fond of to anime that are referred to frequently and it is an experience like no other. Some might think that it creates continuity errors this way, but sometimes it’s hilarious to listen to one episode and hear about inconsistent feelings between two episodes! I hope these guys got my email about my suggestions!

I went through and listened to all of your episodes on anime I’ve seen and now I have gone back to the beginning and am watching or rewatching every single episode. Wow is it a rollercoaster, but a good one. This podcast is phenomenal, even when my love for some anime is challenged. Keep up the good work!

My previous few ratings were as I was listening through the podcast this review will be my over all view because I have listened to all episodes and to be honest it’s a great show of you like there humor get the jokes that the Patreon users are making etc if a die hard otaku(someone whose an anime nerd ) watched this for the first few times I don’t think they would have enough mental development to stick with it. As a person who started listening without even watching anime first it was hilarious and fun and when I started watching anime I decided to replay the episodes I had already listened to and Remington makes some fantastic recommendations and Shawn usually does to. over all give it 2 episodes before quitting and go in with a positive attitude

This podcast is the best I’ve ever listened to! Note to Shaun: Shaun please do a revisit to Full Metal Alchemist it is a show that didn’t cause Rem to suffer. Never show Rem mushigo Tensai the horny (may I note horny for minors) will kill him and it’s an isekai. Also Rem don’t lose faith in the weebs not all of us like trash like Attack on titan. Just happened to stumble across this show and listen to the review episode of Gate. And now I am hooked on the show, the back and forth banter is spot on and love the honest review of the anime that is the focus. I’m hooked

For an anime that features guns being OP in a land of sword and sorcery, see Gate. Which is a fantastic anime and has a shot at being an isekai that even Rem can tolerate.

I love listening to anime that i have never heard of that they review because it allows me to find anime that i enjoy from the bottom of my heart. P.S. As someone who went started off hating anime for its fan service for the longest tkme, and gone on my own anime enjoying journey the past few years now, I love the critiques (whether joking or serious) on anime Remington makes, especially for the popular anime! I personally grow overly skeptical that the more popular something is, the more likely there might be something wrong with it thats being overtly ignored by the fanbase and thus I don’t tend to trust the majority on their opinions when it comes to “good” anime versus “bad” anime. This has been a really fun podcast to listen to and I think anyone who hates anime would love this podcast!
