Been a fan since the old days. PJ, it’s been very cool to “grow up” with you (I say, being essentially the same age as you) and see your skills as a storyteller and your thoughtfulness & maturity as a human develop. (I know there’s something about a parasocial relationship in that statement, but at least I’m self-aware enough to recognize it). Keep up the good work - you and the entire crew. I’ve loved this show since the beginning, I’ve listened to every episode, I find them all fascinating and thorough and enlightening. Truly one of my most beloved podcasts.

For a super short period of time, I had a favorite podcast called “Mystery Show” with Starlee Kine. And then there was Reply All, also a favorite. Search Engine is different from both, but scratches a similar itch for me. PJ is freaking awesome, the kind of host you wish you knew and could just call up on the phone. I am late to this party but delighted because now I can binge it.

I love this podcast and am a subscriber. That being said, I found the guest journalist on the recent Psychic episode to be quite sexist and boomer-y. Complaining that his interviewee the Medium was responding in “paragraphs”and immediately fading her interview responses out instead of letting us listen to her answers…saying she didn’t come across as seriously as meditation leaders, the dismissive skepticism of something newer generations are much more open to…it all just felt very outdated and off-putting, which is the opposite of how I usually see this podcast.

Just listed to the podcast via 10%. Total enjoyment with learning at every angle. Looking forward to listening to past episodes. Wonderful tone and easy to listen to it’s not American Band Stand but it will make you think!

In addition to PJ being a fun and interesting person to hear talk, you walk away from each show with a better understanding of how the world works and why, without even realizing that’s what you were being taught

I love this podcast and look forward to it every week, EXECPT when it’s a rerun? If I wanted to go back and listen to repeat episodes I would do that. I don’t dispute that some of these stories might take a few months but … this is someone’s full time job 5 days a week. To consistently rerun old episodes when they haven’t even hit 100 episodes is wild. I would have given 4.5 starts but apple doesn’t let you

Widely varied choice of topics, good storytelling, feels authentic. It’s nice that PJ has a podcast again, I missed him after Reply All ended.

Big fan of Search Engine including all the hard work of PJ Vogt and team. If you loved Reply All, you will definitely enjoy the story driven journalism and investigative narratives of Search Engine.

Reply All was like the Battlestar Galactica of podcasts. PJ ruined it with his selfish actions. He should not have a public voice again. Search Engine is a show about the must trivial and mundane things but with music that makes it seem important.

Meh...it just This American Life lite. But with WAAAAAAY more commercials!! Way more commercials. I mean a lot of commercials.

I would give this podcast five stars for its content. I ha enjoyed just about every episode. It is very well researched and presented. However, the number and length of commercials is getting ridiculous.

Search Engine answers questions I didn't even realize I had. Some themes seem to be: our relationship with technology, the music industry, drug safety, crumbling American society, animals in urban areas. But don't worry! It's fun and interesting. Give it a try.

I first learned about this one through a Planet Money feature about Tether and its usefulness in enabling text message scams and how those scams are powering human trafficking in Cambodia. Excellent journalism that deserves the large following and patient audience prerequisite of excellent journalism!

You should mention the freedom app in your next episode – – and it absolutely saved me while writing my dissertation and sounds much more advanced and effective than either the brick or the other app that you mentioned. It’s not super pricey and in my opinion extremely well worth the investment so definitely merits a shout out. At least for a non-software engineer like me, it is also impossible to get around, unlike Screen Time controls
