I really enjoy the way this group presents interesting and complex ideas. Great conversation and insights. Bird Pinkerton is my fave but they all rock.

Please no more Bryd Pinkerton
The semi smug, hipster, edge of vocal fry presentation of this woman is beyond obnoxious. The latest episode on the Earth warming was full of her injecting some kind of personal attitude and every time she spoke mocking the seriousness of the topic. A very self involved person who needs to find a life coach on humility. It’s juvenile. Other episodes have intriguing content but the constant immature joking and laughing (you aren’t that funny) is obnoxious. Tone it down. Grow up.

Magical podcast
I just listens to the magical world at the oceans edge episode. I just want to stop by to say that it was such a wonderful story. I haven’t been moved like that by an Unexplainable ep like this before. The ocean is so important to me and Byrd’s personal experience really resonated with me, but it was more than that that made this ep special. The storytelling was fantastic. The scientist guy who was featured mid way through brought a fantastic and complicated perspective and the audio editing pushed it all over the edge for me. So well done.

Great brain food
Each episode is very well crafted. It’s a perfect dose of science for a workout or commute.

neanderTalls”
girl why are you saying neanderthal like this and not only that but saying it 56 times in the first 5 minutes. it’s literally so grating and even the other host the first thing he does is laugh at how youre saying it and points it out bc of how awkward it is!!! he can hardly focus on what youre trying to explain bc it’s SO weird. i feel like i can’t possibly be the only one who’s absolutely flabbergasted at your lack of self awareness and lack of vocab/grammar skills. the redundancy here takes front and center stage, taking all the attention away from the topic at hand. which is truly unfortunate! but i truly feel if she ran through this beforehand or stopped to think about how she’s delivering this way sounds to the listener bc i have never heard anything like it. (which is saying a lot bc ive listened to podcasts non stop for the last like 8 years!) so hopefully my point is made 🤣 but i don’t mean to come off as mean or harsh. im sure this wasn’t her intention but if you’re going to talk for ten minute straight about something please take a moment to think about your delivery, your wording etc. ruined the entire episode and dont have the mental capacity to even consider another episode. saying a word over and over to the point of creating accidental comedy is easily avoidable if you are even a little bit aware of things.

Pregnant PEOPLE?
I don’t think we have anything to learn from someone who doesn’t understand that only women can be pregnant…..

Maybe rethink some sound effects
The bug episode was misophonia’s worst nightmare.

Lots of politics
Clearly supporting one side and not the other
The NIH episode is prime example but there are others…praising Covid vax and vilifying crackdown fraud and abuse that reigned in government for too long; just because this guy didn’t like oversight of absurd spending

Political Undertones
I’m detecting political undertones in more and more episodes. I’ve listened to every episode and don’t like this sort of nonsense. If it continues I’ll probably just move on. I’ve dropped several podcasts in the past for the same thing. I have too many to keep up with without political views.

Emily Oster is not a public health expert
She’s not a scientist or a physician or someone with any sort of expertise about medicine. She’s an economist. There are thousands of public health experts out there who would have loved to talk with your podcast about fluoride. Many of them are out of work now because of the anti-science skepticism that no one has pushed harder or more successfully than Dr. Oster. You. Don’t. Have. To. Talk. To. Her.
Her talent isn’t in science or public health — it’s in repackaging fringe anti-science theories under a veneer of respectability. She “just asked” so many questions about COVID that she personally shaved many, many hours off of my life. My fellow public health experts and I wasted so much time and effort trying to correct misinformation that came directly from her keyboard. We always knew when it was her.
Now she’s just asking questions and legitimizing some terrible ideas about fluoride. As far as I know, there is no law that requires you to ask Dr. Oster her opinion about anything. Get this troll out of the mainstream and back under the bridge she came from.

Great show kids,
Yes the hiccups episode was a bit playful. Perhaps the sound effects were overdone. But week after week the content is fresh and the guests are fascinating. Unexplainable is a thought provoking, interesting and engaging podcast. Not bad for a preteen production. Thanks for the great work.
KnackerMan
Didn’t make it through first episode
Never made it halfway through the first episode. I listened to the one on hiccups because I thought it would be a fun topic that I’ve never seen covered. Unfortunately, it’s amateur hour at “Unexplainable” and it’s produced by pre-teens. They thought it would be cute to insert a hiccup sound effect during nearly every pause, every transition, and even in the background when people were talking. It didn’t take long to grate on my nerves. If this obviously poor decision making on the production side is par for course, I hope they never do a show on burps or farts. Grow up and hire professionals that understand the concept of “less is more.”

People speak like AIs
Idk if this just pertains to the guest on the blood episode, but I seriously thought she was an AI. The cadence of her speech was totally uncanny valley and I don’t believe that she was actually there speaking.
Journalists need to learn to speak like human beings if they want to be engaging; the diction of ending every statement with inflections up like they are asking a question or injecting too many pauses into every statement is completely disengaging.

Great podcast. I truly lean something new every week. Is there any where that the whole adventure at the end of the episodes?

I love Unexplainable
Unexplainable brings irreverent, accurate, sincere, and pertinent coverage of subjects that stoke curiosity. Plus, it features the whimsical musical genius of Noam in songs like The Wombat Song. In the pantheon of podcasts, The Unexplainable stands on top as the current reigning champion!

Social justice warriors.
Why is science being destroyed? Everything in here has to do with politics and social justice. It doesn’t matter if you’re on the episode talking about food, robots, or ice, you will get preached to.

Is Science in Danger?
I know you can’t just fire someone from the government that has permanent status, or least not as simple. I also know our government is far from perfect. But how would you be if involved with so many people, so many gender, so many races, breeds, nations. How would you be if you are responsible to care for this world?? Or at least try? I can understand it (government) all is in need of a good gutting and transitioning. But surely not at this level or this damaging way. I’ve never heard or felt so many professionals, sound so fragile. And I SO realize the ‘WHY’ it is not as easy to Iose them. There’s an horrific ripple effect. But they, and we shall all prevail. It’s only another sickness. And another fight to heal.

You can do better.
Spin it as the end of the world. Government is the least efficient organization out there. It’s time we stopped throwing billions at nonsense. Welcome to the real world like the rest of us not in government. I worked in government it’s a mess. They cannot clean themselves up dramatic changes are needed. Now do a show with the other viewpoint thats not from the elitist entitled people.

Are you trying to alienate half the country?
I just tuned in to get a whole TDS episode. I had some issues before, but this was over the top. Telling people they can’t experiment on kids and that government shouldn’t be spending ridiculous studies isn’t anti-science.

Wow y’all! Just when I thought your content couldn’t get any better you reach new heights and share the bits that never made it into the released episodes. Just WOW. More of these compilations please! Incredible. Love u!

Good but please tone down the background music
I enjoy the content of this podcast and many others, but I find the constant noises and music in the background distracting. Can we just hear their voices without the odd sounds?

Hunger for non biased information
I love your education on things that matter to the quality of life and honer as members of a race that seems in a major challenge of compassion, as well as scientific advancement. We need to good quality information to make understanding include the heights of good for all mot just the greedy selfishness of a few.

Insurance episode
This story could be more helpful if you were a little more imaginative- for instance, you could mention that insurance companies could be more demanding of property owners in affluent threatened areas in order to avoid having to raise rates in less affluent, less threatened areas. As often happens, those less affluent people are not recognized in media products.

High production quality, wide breadth of topics, and interesting interviews. Only comment is I wish the episodes were a bit longer, but that is hard with a weekly show!

I deliver mail, so I have all day to listen
This is one of the best shows I’ve listened to since becoming a mail carrier. I love how easy it is to learn and how fun it is every day. I feel like I’m part of the show because the hosts are with me while I walk every day. They can’t hear me, but I talk with them while they’re talking. Even things I wouldn’t normally find interesting, I actually do find interesting while listening to them! Keep up the great work!

What did dinosaurs sound like?
I found this podcast while working on assignment for my English literature class and honestly I am so glad I did!
This episode was filled with so many facts that had me saying “no way” through the whole thing! I appreciated the mix between creativity and facts including, clips of interviews and movie references. This episode truly kept me engaged the whole time! I will continue to listen!

Frontline of science
Such an exceptional show, from its concept to its execution. The topics are always intriguing and the production is beautiful. There are a lot of science shows out there but this one makes me feel that i am visiting the frontlines of learning and exploration. Thank you for this show, your team is wonderful!

Intriguing, Thought Provoking & Fun!
I absolutely love this podcast. It’s one that I fell into a couple years ago after searching for new content like Radiolab. I loved that podcast, but it has not had fallen into a lot of reruns & not as compelling stories since the original hosts had left. Which was hard bc I loved their curious way of storytelling of science and facts. And when I found Unexplainable, it had that same draw. The same curiosity and while the format was different, the presentation of the material was just as intriguing. The stories are interesting, their format is engaging and the content very fun! I think it’s god for the world to learn more about the world around us and I love that they can make topics that can be mundane to be truly compelling.
I also wrote into the show email recently as I’ve heard their call to action to at the end of episodes to ask a question that I always I wondered about, and can I tell you- They not only responded, but did so with SO MUCH INFORMATION! They gave me my answer and shared resources & it was beyond what I expected! I honestly thought they would just throw it in a q&a episode, but they took the time for a thoughtful and thorough response. Honestly I didn’t think I could love them more but it just made it amplify my love for the podcast! So much so that this is my first podcast review :) Keep the episodes coming!

Informative and Entertaining
The Vox Unexplainable series blends personal stories from experts with solid data (including its scope & limitations), creating a mix of investigative journalism, science, and humanity that is engaging and easy to digest.

Incredibly Insightful
Another great podcast from Vox Media, but this is my favorite one. Every episode topic is deeply interesting and super informative. It’s information that’s insightful for policy wonks yet approachable and easy for everyone to understand.
