I’ve gotten a lot of entertainment and information out of the show, Tom and Dominic have a great report and their enthusiasm brings the subject to life. Currently listening to the episode 2 about the Medicis, and hearing two Englishmen ridicule Italian food has to be peak irony.

During episode 1 on The Rolling Stones, one of the fellas made a comment suggesting that the strength of the economy and high amount of teenagers in the early 1960s were such a condition that any band really could have been the Beatles. An opinion that fails to properly acknowledge the amount of creative and innovative talent held by 2, and even 3 of the Beatles. Clearly there is some weird Beatles bias or perhaps you know History well but not music.

Most wonderful series. I’ve been listening for several years. I’ve found the several series to be delightful.

I love the history and believe they do a great job with storytelling. However, I find the glee in which they discuss torture and horror disturbing. I also despair at the glints of misogyny especially in Mary Queen of Scotts. They display the stereotypes of their sex, race, and age a bit too much.

Love the show. Well researched and presented. Would love to hear a bit more about British Colonialism.

Dominic and Tom surely have a tremendous way of capturing the story. Their narrative and educational input makes you think, let your creative mind wander, and even sometimes build the images in your brain. Let’s be honest, that’s quite hard to do on a podcast but these fine gentleman are experts at achieving that. I’m your average American, blue collar worker, who was not that well rounded in school. This podcast is something I can throw my AirPod in one ear, do my job, get some giggles in my day with a lot of “oh wow, I didn’t know that” moments throughout my day. Was there a need to share I am an American, definitely not. The reasoning was to shower their audience has a wide range of listeners. I could’ve just left the 5 stars and said “yeah man. Cool show.” But what would that do? They’ve got this old redneck man’s attention. I have no doubt they’ll captivate yours as well.

Absolutely the greatest history podcast there is! Honest, well balanced storytelling without revisionist narratives which is something difficult to come across these days. Thank you so much to Tom and Dominic and to their supporting crew!

Is that as a member of the club, I always binge the series in a matter of days and then have to sit in agony for 2 weeks waiting for the next one.

Tom & Dominic are well-informed historians but they love to get into the blood and guts in detail. There’s enough of that in everyday news and so I skip their blood and gut stories.

I listened to the Medici stories and found them informative and interesting. The narrators added some pretty creative humor which kept my interest and had me laughing out loud in the car!

Love the show. Four stars because anti-American bias can be a bit too much so at times have to choose episodes carefully.

Sound quality/setup was extremely poor

The rapport between the two hosts makes this program so fun and entertaining. I loved the episodes about Byron, the French Revolution, and the Aztecs.

Great storytellers with enough details to keep it interesting and informative.

How about series on the east/west schism?

History has never been one of my favorite topics, but this podcast has fascinated me and sparked my curiosity, all while making me laugh my head off. The hosts are wonderful at painting a picture, and their imitations of Vikings and archdukes chortling in a manly manner even brings the sounds alive.

Could you please hire a Scottish actor in the future to read out any diary entries/ speeches by Scots, like you did with the Irish man in recent episodes?

I hear the first half of every sentence, but you both get so quiet in the lower tones as you trail off that it’s impossible to hear unless I have the volume blasting. Your podcast is so good, and so frustrating because I miss almost half in some episodes when you aren’t consistent in volume. I don’t know if it’s a speech pattern difference or a mic thing? I love the parts I hear: the topics are excellent and you’re both knowledgeable, so it’s a bummer to miss parts.

It is very relaxing to listen to but I also learn a lot

Careful research and vivid depictions bring historical events to life. The dialogue and intelligent, witty conversations frame characters, personalities, events, challenges, and choices, and help modern listeners see our connection to the past. There are a few areas of history in which I have experience and would quibble with a few details, but one of the best and most engaging podcasts available. Keep going. This is outstanding podcasting.

Came for the Roman conquest of Britain, stayed because it was so much fun. Side note: Tom is starting to convince me I need to get into ancient coin collecting.

Listening to this hosts roar with laughter as they describe, in detail, the sadistic torture of animals, and titter with amusements as they describe, in detail, the sadistic torture and murder of humans - features of the Peter the Great episodes - will test your tolerance for bleak nihilism presented as humor.

Educational and fun. What a great mix

Historians Tom Holland and Dominic Sandbrook present history in a way I never learned it. Rich with detail and academic resources, intriguing, and marvelous, both gentlemen are obviously passionate about the past, and sometimes very funny. Enjoy, listen again, and share.

I love learning about history through a discussion! This helps me escape current events, yet also recognize the impact of history on current events!

This is what the history channel used to be; unbiased, knowledgeable, well rounded, thorough, relevant and sometimes clever funny. Before it became inundated with aliens and monsters, this tells history, which is His story of God’s hand in the world as it is. Excellent work

Excellent podcast, really enjoy listening. Hosts have great chemistry, are very knowledgeable and funny to boot. History is, above all, a story, and these two tell the story well.

Still great, but haughtiness beats out earnestness in recent episodes

The topics are mostly interesting. Sometimes there is more analysis rather than narrative so some basic knowledge of the topic would be helpful. But the chemistry between the hosts is palpable and the personalities are very likable. An immensely enjoyable listen!

I was looking for something to elevate my understanding of history and I found this podcast on Apple podcasts. Phenomenal and insightful! Keep it up guys!

Time well spent listening to these folks. Entertaining, riveting, deep and lofty. I understand the US today much better because of Dominic and Tom and they are English!

This is a very entertaining podcast with two terrific podcasts! And it has none of that annoying background music that infects so many podcasts but it's purely a fascinating narrative and is of course very informative.
