Loving season four! All of my fears about this campaign have been proven unnecessary! ❤️❤️

Wtf happened?? Overproduced, episodes cut in half, ads thrown in with no care about story continuity, way too many characters in and out…should I continue? A damn shame really, was such a good show before.

I enjoyed campaign 2 and 3 never took the time for 1. Campaign 4 has been quite entertaining! Loving all the new voices 😊

I started with Campaign 2 (my favorite one), and then campaign 1, and loved both. Campaign 3 is OK, but I did not enjoy the mini campaign inside of campaign 3. The DM style was not really up to par compared to the rest of CR. Campaign 4 is good with BLM’s DM style, but they need to stop with the half episodes, and rearrange the locations of the ads.

I love Critical Role. The first three campaigns were so fun and enjoyable. Season four is tedious at best. So many people in and out I basically only know ONE character name/class/species (Thimble) and we’re seven “episodes” into the story. After the Dagger Heart mini campaign and now this, I fear they have permanently lost their way. It was a great run while it lasted.

I love you guys, but the adds are torture! They cut people off mid sentence! Sometimes there isn’t even a sign off! I wish you guys would go back to being live. I would absolutely recommend C2, but I haven’t listened to the others yet. I just know that the production quality of Wildemount Wildlings is really bad… Seriously though, you guys are amazing!

Season 4 is a nightmare of over production. The constant table swapping of cast members is awful. This isn’t D&D anymore. It’s something else and it sucks? I can’t hang with the show anymore. Season 1 & 2 were incredible. Season 3 felt lack luster but it was still D&D. Season 4 is a stage play suffering from contrived DM’ing and over production. It sucks to see my favorite players fail like this.

So happy to tune in and listen to these adventurers twice a week. The ad placement is quite poor but the show itself is amazing

I’ve been a fan of Critical Role for a long time and when i found out they released it as a podcast I was excited. Campaigns 1-3 were amazing in this format and super convenient. Where the review takes a hit though is with campaign 4. In my opinion the choice they made to release this season in halves was a weird choice. I know they are all pre-recorded now so they aren’t based on live episodes anymore but the days and days between halves of episodes while dealing with multiple groups of players is more annoying than interesting. I’m hoping this release cadence changes. The show has always been a 5/5 for me but this campaign is kinda killing it for me.

I love critical role

I’ve been listening to this show for years as a podcast. It was amazing back in the day during campaign 2. There was a couple of sponsored ads at the beginning and they were entertaining. Sometimes they were super entertaining when Sam was really going off! Then there was a few more that came in after the song and the break. No problem. I want the show to make money and be successful. Fast forward to now when the ads pop in mid-session - often mid-sentence while someone is talking. It’s incredibly annoying and disruptive. I will also say that breaking the show up into halves is not great either, especially with the style of storytelling in this campaign. There’s so many breaks from separate narratives and characters and storylines. It’s even harder to follow when the episodes are chopped up like this but I also think so many scenes feel predetermined. I know the first 4-5 episodes are supposed to be this overture, but at the same time that’s like 20 hours. Get on with it. It doesn’t feel like a game. It feels like a show, but that kind of pacing makes for an annoying show. i like some of the characters and CR has been great for so long. It’s literally my favorite podcast/show. I will try and hang in there a little while longer but I’m starting to feel like I am wasting my time with campaign 4, especially with what’s become of the podcast format.

This show is a snooze fest. These guys have bought in to their own hype. It is basically haltingly whispered melodrama that goes on for hours. The most excitement is when they are cheering each other just for coming to the table. Maybe they should go to a dungeon, or fight a dragon instead of breathlessly consoling each other over some obscure thing that supposedly happened in the past. When they do have a moment of action, it is so full of um’s and ah’s that it is painful to listen to. Really the whole thing is tedious. I expect better from this group, but I guess this is what happens when you are only told how great you are. It’s pathetic that the ad reads are the most interesting part of the show. If D

This season is particularly dense and when you are trying to pay close attention and some sales person comes in barking about eBay mid statement- no music change or a slightest pause… it’s just too much and all the listeners can think about is how betrayed they feel. I understand it takes money to make things but as an audio fan I could have lived without a fancy table or lighting cues etc. Small and fun was better people who just wanted to listen in while doing dishes or shopping.

Campaign 4 is off to a great start.

A podcast about awkward teens in an adventuring camp in a fantasy medieval world, and all of the challenges and monsters and mazes are created by children and then adapted for play by the brilliant Sam Reigel. I cannot get over how much fun it was to listen the voice actors encounter the inventions of the kids after hearing Sam and the kids come up with them together. Great great show.

I love this. Absolute masterpiece. This has helped me through my lows in life. Rides through my highs. And helped me not be bored out of my ever loving mind. Honestly this is amazing. Keep up the good work guys!!! And bidet.

Love this show, just started campaign 1 I’m on episode 5 so far it has been great. As an aspiring GM I’m working on a campaign in gladiator arena and the main goal is to win the massive hoard of an ancient Sphinx with different factions that give you a +1 to two specific stats and various other buffs. BTW I just started working on this so don’t judge. But if anybody has cool ideas please comment on this one (looking at you Matt Mercer)

It’s a decent show, my two problems are: they cuss like sailors, I just don’t feel that’s necessary I’m not completely against a little cussing but they say the F word like Scottish people. My second problem is Matt is too woke for me, everyone else is not as vocal, but I’m guessing they’re on the same. In the end I just ignore the cussing and opinions and listen for the story. I’d make my own dnd podcast but I’m only 17

I started listening because I needed to learn the game mechanics so I could help my son start a d&d club at his school. That has been accomplished in spades, and I have also found a new source of joy in my daily life, through the characters these players bring to life. The humor and drama they weave into every part of their story, even into their ads, makes this a show you should definitely tune into.

I was turned onto this podcast by a friend who is a decades long game player. I have been binging it solid for over a month. Having never played but knowing many people who did I always wondered what was the attraction? I totally get it now Podcast. I love listening to these people. I love listening to the story and I’ve now started organizing a game for my friends and I. I talk about this podcast all the time to people and I hope that brings new listeners. I’m only in campaign too, but I look forward to going through them all. Thank you for turning this thing into something that everybody could enjoy with you .

Critical role develops fantastic story lines and has me playing D&D after a 24 year break. Three show has given me great ideas to run my own campaigns and learn the new 5e rules. I'm personally looking forward to them playing with the D&D rules again. I'm nota fan of their new gaming platform.

Great to listen to. Best RPG based podcast I have found. Players are clever, and funny, but are obviously invested in their characters. This is as close as I have found to what it was like playing myself. Well done.

This is a really great resource for me as a rising DM, and a wonderful podcast for me as a crafter. I shall continue making references to this show that my friends and family will not understand, driving them slowly mad and forcing them to listen to it. :)

There was just a drop off every season campaign 1 was great but 3 was unlistenable.

I’ll say up front, I do no like Sam Regal. He is my least favorite, and I’ve never liked any of his characters for more than a scene. So there’s some bias. I missed all of C1, so can’t say much. I missed some of C2 since it isn’t all on here, but I mostly enjoyed it. There were more than a few scenes I had to skip because of how cringey the dialogue got (Beau and Yasha scenes mainly, but some Nott and Jester ones, too. Though with Jester it was because I can’t stand the high pitched voice.) But over overall I enjoyed it, and the one shots involving the characters. C3 though… I have constantly felt so close to dropping the show. Skipping multiple episodes at once at one point. The only thing keeping me barely holding on is Matt and his world building. But all the problems I had with C2 are spread across 90% of the characters in C3 and I hate it so much. At multiple points it felt like the game would devolve into an ERP campaign. Why was it so gucking horning all the time. There were so many critical moments that were staggered because of one reason or another, ruining any build up to something cool. The players were so much worse in their decision paralysis, and despite playing for many years now, some of them still can’t remember their basic spells or class stuff. I’m at episode 98 of C3, and I’m ready to officially drop this. I love Matt Mercer and Liam and Travis, but the rest have started to seriously urk me.

It’s a great podcast but I still think tales from the stinky dragon is better.

Probably the best D&D podcast to listen to. They do curse a lot so not recommended for kids. The story’s are incredible and Mercer puts such detail into everything that it creates an immersive experience. When I watch the anime Vox Machina based on their first campaign everything looked exactly how I imagined it. I will say though that listening to it through pod cast has some moments where I go to YouTube to view it because I miss some visual things. Especially Mercers battle maps that are beautiful. I’ve been listening to Critical Role every time I get into the car for the past 8 years and I’ll never get tired of it.

Started this podcast at season 3 episode 1. Not one hour into it, the players weren’t on par with the DM. He was quite descriptive, if not a little verbose, but the players’ vocabulary quickly devolved to dropping far too many F-bombs aren’t children play acting at how they think an adult acts.

I’ve been a fan forever. Whether you start with Campaign 3, 2, or 1 you’ll love it!!

I love this show but after all these years why do I have to deal with the skips where it jumps back in time a few seconds. Please fix this.

The Mighty Nein campaign finally concluded… why’d you guys have to river dance on my feelings? I can’t wait to start with campaign 3, but I know I’m gonna miss having these misfits as the main cast. This is one of the best stories I’ve ever listened to, bar none. If you have the time, the interest, and the motivation, let these wonderful people take you on a journey.

So many silly moments. I’ve fallen in love with all the characters and their shinanigans. Amazing voice actors, world building, and opening bits from Sam Regal. My boyfriend turned me onto this and I can’t stop listening to it—highly suggest!

There is a beautiful interplay of levity & depth in these two that I should’ve realized was there, and I did - but I just didn’t fully appreciate it until Weird Kids. I’ve loved their storytelling and talents on Critical Role, but it’s a different kind of special to hear their personal stories and how it flows so naturally when speaking w/ someone you trust and love. I just started listening to this and I looove Matt's GMing style! It's helping me so much with being a GM myself. There's not much advice online that fits the problems I usually have, but listening to Matt almost always helps me. (Especially with improvisational stuff, which I really struggle with.) Gonna start my first homemade campaign soon, and listening to this just is really helping me prepare.

I’m writing this on a whim that you might see it someday you incredible story tellers… It’s your fault I still have an imagination… It’s your fault I can truly relax in the chaos… It’s your fault I still see the necessity of storytelling… It’s your fault that I can love fake characters so deeply… Your guys connection and the stories you tell have meant the world to me. I’ve been here since campaign one. Playing your podcast while I wired electrical panels on an assembly line over ten years ago. To now playing the final episode of c3 while working as an engineer for a hospital. As a young 32 year old man, father of two, dedicated husband, working a night shift, and still sometimes struggling to get by. I have enjoyed coming back to you all every Thursday (kind of a lie sometimes I wait so I can binge episodes) for most of my adult life... Thank you for showing me how meaningful it is to imagine and dream and create whole worlds with the ones you love. Starting a campaign for my babies now that they are of an age capable of understanding some of the “rules”. I will forever be thankful to you all. Thanks CR podcast. This is ALL your fault. PS: this goes for the production crew as well. I know how hard you guys work in the background keeping track of lore, creating art, etc. Truly one of the most symbiotic and beautiful crews to ever produce a creative medium for all of us needs to enjoy.

Amazing podcast!! I listen to it all the time. I would highly recommend to any one looking for a good laugh and a great story.

Talented voice actors some of whom are very funny. Mercer is unique and often carries the show. Kind of feels like hanging out with the theatre kids from high school if that’s your thing. Has lost some of its organic feel and become much more corporate as they scale for influence and $$$$ but good for them; I’m sure voice acting is a hard gig.

I have recently gotten into dnd and I really wanted to see what actual gameplay looks like. I watched the very first episode of Campaign 3 and oh my gosh…the storytelling and characters are all so amazing!!! If you’re looking for a podcast that has deep storytelling, fantasy, and the dumbest jokes that will make you laugh every single time, give it a shot! Gave this podcast a test run, and now i’m never leaving <3

Been a fan of this crazy crew since 2017. I love the cast as they deep dive into the characters and attempt to experience what they are experiencing whether it be emotional, spiritual, or psychological. The best part is that game flow is organic rather than forced (or scripted), which makes following the storyline very pleasurable and even more amazing since it is improved. I love DnD, and this show displays the game as very pleasurable and playable! Consider it a very in-depth TV show that you use your imagination to display. It’s a beautiful mix of creativity and practicality. Love. This. Show.

This show is so much fun and I am very behind but it’s still so cool and fun. They should fix the upload problem it is anticlimactic to here the same sentence twice.

wasted so much time listening to kill everyone. Not super fun, just bad storytelling. Won’t be listening to more. Why bother investing in more characters when they’ll likely be dead in another thirty episodes. And it’s not even the first character killed? The best episodes of this were when Aabria GM’d. Had super high hopes but why bother with more. The players talk over each other so much it’s actually hard to hear anything.

I don’t really know what to say. The cast of Critical Role are a bunch of beautiful humans, and i’m very happy that we can all listen to the journeys they go on. Thanks Matt Mercer…

I love CR and it was literally years before I knew what the faces behind the voices sounded like. Lately they added ads. And it make me sad. The add breaks happen right after the into song and really is discordant. It knocks me out of the show and makes it unpleasant to listen to. The second break just cuts into the show at a random point in time mid sentence. CR you have a break. Please put your ads there rather than right in the middle of a sentence. Listen, enjoy, it’s wonderful, but if they had an ad free podcast like the twitch stream for the same cost I’d be on that like Scanlan would be on Cheney!

My daughter convinced me to listen to Calamity- and after that limited series I was hooked. Immediately invested in the characters and the actors. Ya’ll are fantastic- can’t recommend the show highly enough! ❤️ Even the ads are fun to listen to! My only regret is that because they’re on the west coast, I can’t watch live on Twitch and still be able to get up for work in the am!
