Pretty good
I especially like the ones with industry and historical experts, like the Helion CEO or Viking historian. The political ones are hit or miss.
Please stop asking some AI chatbot about something when you have an expert in that field sitting across from you. I care about your guest’s opinion, not AI. Kinda cringe.

“Chinese People”
Haha Lex you must be an information agent or something!
You think “understanding the Chinese People” would lead to some form of integration, but they are over a billion people, they only give appearance of integrated (like any country, let alone a population so massive).
The integration will come with a “trust but verify” pact regarding nature, and the derailment of the modern armament race.
Good begets good, bad begets bad. Nobody is supreme, but we are all supreme together.

Who knows?
10 minutes in to a piece reportedly on Amazonian anthropology and conservation and I've gotten a pseudoscientific hype-session on supplements -- naturally, to buy -- ads for Shopify, then some other ad. Maybe more to follow but I dropped off. Probably my loss.

#409 Matt Cox
That was easily one of the most powerful podcasts I’ve ever listened to. It was completely riveting—Matt Cox has a way of telling his story that makes you feel like you’re right there with him, living every moment.
As a man, it really hits home. A lot of us go through life wanting to make our fathers proud, and you could feel how much that meant to him in the way he spoke about his dad. It added a whole deeper layer to everything.
And hearing about the relationships built while being institutionalized—it makes sense. When you live alongside people every day in that kind of environment, those bonds become something different, something stronger.
I’ve been listening to his podcast for a couple years now, but this was the first time I heard his full story from start to finish. I was completely locked in the entire time.
Incredible story. Truly unforgettable.

Great Ideas and Guests, But…
…a bit too much insider baseball when Lex knows the subject well (e.g. OpenClaw episode). We were all dropped in “media res” to something fairly abstract and hard to understand.

Lex is the best!
Listening since 2020, Lex is a great interviewer, a great human, and a real polymath.

Exploitation of the indigenous peoples. This grifter has had great experiences but he is a glorified rich guys tour guide supported by well meaning donations to help local tribes. Pretty disgusting,

Authoritarian Enabler
Lex, I was once an avid listener. Your podcast contributed to the election of Donald Trump. You bear responsibility for the atrocities occurring in our country. If you are motivated by love, as you so often claim, you must publicly denounce this monster.

Very interesting and intriguing. Covers many fascinating topics and does a good job of deeply analyzing all of it.

Good but needs some balance
This is a great podcast for diving deep into some very interesting scientific topics. However the overall tone is too much hypebeast and lacking balance. For instance, on the topic of AI, all the interviews are from experts who have vested financial interests in the industry. There aren’t any/enough balanced opinions being presented. Where are the critics interviews?
Lastly, please stop reading generic responses from AI search results while interviewing a guest. It doesn’t add any value and just perpetuates the AI hype even more. Let Joel David Hamkins talk. He doesn’t need “perplexity says”.

Slow
I’m interested in the guests he has on his podcast but it’s like 10 minutes of information in 3 hours. So slow. I have to play it on x1.75

Great interview with Michael Levin
Fascinating discussions on the architecture of intelligent minds. I am still trying to absorb the idea that the physical is an interface to a larger space that could be hosting all the intelligence and how connectivity of simpler agents could lead to intelligent behaviors. Levin also pointed out that the Cellular automata model is open loop, hence not adequate to explain emergence of intelligence. Perhaps an interview with Stephen Wolfram on how the universe being an computing process, how irreducibility could apply and how his view rooted in physics could compare and contrast Levin’s view from a higher level of cognitive sciences and biology ?

Fusion power
Absolutely fascinating interview with David Kirtley about the incredible possibilities with nuclear fusion as a safe, clean, abundant, low cost power source. This power will eliminate world poverty and propel mankind forward. Appreciate the smart questions and requests to clarify..really helped a non-physics person like me to understand. Hope I’m around in 30 years to see the full potential and resulting exponential growth in human expansion

#477 Keyu Jin
I really enjoy your show and appreciate the high quality interviews. You clearly put significant effort into researching and preparing for each episode. Unfortunately I think you missed the mark a bit with episode #477 on China with guest Keyu Jin. While the episode was informative, in total it came off as nothing more than Chinese political propaganda. You never delved into why America considers China as an enemy from a political perspective. In my opinion it is disingenuous to only consider China from an economic perspective without considering its political aspirations and actions. The two are absolutely intertwined. China holds the same company as Russia and Iran from an American point of view…they are the modern day axis of evil that actively touts international laws and norms, undermines American interests around the world and are nothing more than murderers and thugs posing as state actors.

Boring and questionable intent
Bunch of self-appointed “authorities” on here — rarely a decent guest. Show seems to have an affinity for MAGA and oligarch tech ideology and pushing power to narcissists who want to run dominate world.

Duck & Cover!
Y’all about to be called anti-semites, Scott H and Lex F! Why? Because that’s what always happens if you don’t agree w/ Israel’s geno. You’ll soon see Israel will start stealing W. Bank land and anything else they can get their hands on. This was ALWAYS the plan for Net to create a Greater Is. any way he can. Makes me sick to realize I’m correct about this - it’s what I feared all along. U.S. MUST remove itself from this sick and twisted, corrupt foreign nation. It’s beyond disgusting.

Thank you for sharing, your ability to conduct very detailed conversations with experts from various disciplines, cultures, and interests is fascinating to follow. I never thought I would be interested in a 5 hour conversation about programming but your ability to keep highly technical content interesting to listeners is unique. Your background and accomplishments open to door to guests other shows can’t attract and you are able to keep the discussion interesting to casual observers. Thank you for shining a light on people and subject matter I would not be exposed to otherwise.

Genghis Khan, this is the kind of "hero" that inspires sweet, peaceful, loving guy Lex …
Lex is somehow too sweet and peace-loving. But for some reason he praises one of the bloody conquerors of the world Genghis Khan and even presents him as a hero... He is even going to devote time to this, to go to Mongolia, Genghis homeland, to visit places where... he kind of praises him. But this bloody Mongolian conqueror, who destroyed millions of lives and raped millions of women... was evil. The one example we can take is Afghanistan. Genghis Khan with he’s army invaded a foreign country, where for some reason his grandson died. What did Genghis do? For a whole month he slaughtered villages and raped in revenge, so that people would cry. This is the kind of "hero" that inspires Lex. And suddenly, at the end of the program, Lex simply attacks Israel, saying that they commit murders there in Gaza. Lex, I listened to you a lot, and you were always interesting to me with your phony sweet, peaceful, loving testaments.

Guest Suggestion
If you do decide to have Benjamin Netanyahu on again, you better be prepared to hold his feet to the fire, and push back on his lies. Also inquire why Israel harbors pedophiles, and members of their Knesset practice ritual sexual abuse of their own children.

Lex is not presumptuous; he’s curious and is willing to step out of his comfort zone in order to learn and grow. He has a logical and profound approach to crucial conversations.

Episode 473 unlistenable
I get that Israel versus Iran, or Israel versus anybody, is going to be tinged with emotion, but the two people debating here have no control over their emotions… Interrupting, and speaking over the other. Speaking in rambling diatribes that go on for waaaaay too long. Makes it really difficult to follow and frankly it turns me off to the podcast.
I love this podcast… enjoy it greatly… enjoy challenging topics… even enjoy topics that I know nothing about at all… offers an opportunity to learn.
This episode 473 got way out of control. Appreciate your trying to rein it in at times Lex, but the continuous emotional interruptions and rambling speeches make it impossible to draw value out of this episode.

thank you for creating beauty!
if Myshkin is right and beauty will save the world, then Lex will have contributed heavily to bringing about that end. in a world where so many intellectuals choose to devolve into ideological mud throwing contests, this show is a beacon of nuance, openness, and curiosity. Lex has distilled interviewing down to an art, and i highly recommend giving it a listen!
also for all the people who make fun of his “peace and love” takes, what’s your solution? hate and war? 😂

Episode 446
You are onto something with your observation of the link between freedom of speech and thought. This is the incubator for innovation because of a conservation of energy reality. The mind can only track so many things at once and greatness requires full subject attention. When the mind is distracted by unproductive thoughts like speech codes especially when there are real world consequences to those banned thoughts being expressed, the mind isn’t completely free - energy isn’t free to explore and expand understanding. It becomes trapped in a cage of worry and fear. This inhibits innovation. The mind, like a pie, becomes carved up to the extent that a lesser percentage can focus on one’s natural interests and passions and with it the expression of intelligence is compromised. I hope this makes sense.

Deeply insightful - AI
Deeply insightful interviews that are evolving our collective understanding of science, technology, and AI. I hope he will interview Frederico Faggin, the inventor of the first microprocessor and the clearest thinker I have ever encountered on the nature of consciousness, AI, and why machines can never be conscious. Truly remarkable insights. If you listen to him carefully (or read Irreducible) you will never be the same again, in the best sense! An intellectual journey to the farthest frontier but grounded in experience, insightful and deep thinking, and sound science. Frederico Faggin.
