The unique role of the fast 135mm prime lens

A few days ago Rick and I were chatting about bokeh and how some people are extremely obsessed with it. At the same time, Viltrox released a new 135mm f/1.8 lens for Sony E mount (and it’s rumored to be coming out in Nikon Z mount soon). As such, we thought we’d talk about the venerable 135mm prime. Once a staple of most manual focus kits, the 135mm focal length fell out of favor but is now making a comeback. Canon, Nikon, and Sony all offer 135mm f/1.8 lenses, and there are comparable ones for other systems and some good 3rd-party options, too. Compare them all here.

Nikon announced a long-awaited update to their DX-format mirrorless camera, the Z50 II. This new camera improves on the original by adding subject-detection AF, faster performance, and better video recording options. Check prices on the Nikon Z50 II here.
