Software Lens Corrections & More



Well-corrected lenses were extremely important in the days of film, but today’s software correction tools allow you to reduce or remove distortion, vignetting, and chromatic aberrations from your photos. A huge ramification of having these tools mean that you can often times get excellent image quality from lenses that aren’t optically perfect. The result is that smaller, lighter (and less expensive) lenses can often do the job, providing you know how to make the necessary corrections.

This week, Tamron announced a new super-zoom lens for Sony mirrorless. The 28-300mm f/4.0-7.1 includes image stabilization, a focus preset button, and weighs in at 1.3 lbs.
