Building a smaller kit within your existing system



Now that’s a small kit! OM System 9-18mm and 14-150mm lenses deliver a 18-300mm equivalent range and weigh just under 1 lb.



This week, we’ll take a look at some ideas for shrinking your kit by getting a different set of lenses for your existing system. While the lure of “pro glass” is strong, sometimes it’s nice to have a small and agile camera kit. A small kit can be great for travel photography, or any situation where you value size and weight over pure optical quality. Today’s mirrorless lenses are astonishingly good, and can offer some attractive options for building a “system within a system.” When paired with modern lens correction tools like DXO Pure Raw 4, you’d be surprised a the kinds of results you can get.
