Opening Night didn’t go the way the San Francisco Giants hoped, as they got smacked and showed clear areas that still need work. On today’s Locked On Giants, we break down the game and what stood out — both good and bad — including candid postgame comments from manager Tony Vitello:
“This is a half-painful, half-easy press conference to do, because it was pretty straight up. Whichever phase you pick out, we just weren't as good as we're capable of being tonight. And they played well. So it worked out the way that it did.”
There were still some positives to build on, including Luis Arraez setting the tone at the top of the lineup, a solid showing from Keaton Winn, and a nice defensive play from Harrison Bader. But the concerns are real — especially when it comes to continued defensive issues that showed up right away.
Plus, we react to the Opening Night “Netflix-style” presentation — was it over the top, and did it miss the mark for a baseball audience?
