The San Francisco Giants lost yet again to the Pittsburgh Pirates despite carrying a lead into the bottom of the ninth inning, final score 5-4. Former San Francisco Giants prospect and anointed Buster Posey replacement Joey Bart delivered the game-tying base hit for the Pittsburgh Pirates in the bottom of the ninth inning before the winning run scored on a ground ball to first base. Justin Verlander continued to pitch well in this one, giving up no earned runs through five innings of work. This is the third consecutive start of at least five innings and one or fewer earned runs for Justin Verlander. Still, the San Francisco Giants continue to find ways to lose games.
